Oregon Quarterback Marcus Mariota has no doubt been impressive on the field this season, having knocked out opponents with his legs and his arm. Although the Ducks did not complete the comeback against Stanford having lost 26-20 last Thursday night the Ducks signal caller has been named among 15 semifinalists for the Walter Camp Award, which goes to the best player in College football. Mariota is also listed in several Heisman straw polls in the Top 3 – he was #1 before the loss to Stanford.
In a game where your teams ranking seems to mean more than your individual accomplishments the addition to the Walter Camp list is important. The Sophomore Quarterback when asked about his Heisman status several weeks ago brushed it off as if it wasn’t that big of a deal. Oregon now has one goal, to win. If they can do that the fates will put them where they belong in 2013.
For the season Mariota is responsible for 22 touchdowns and no interceptions.
The final 5 finalists will be announced on December 2nd, with the winner announced December 12th.
Marcus Mariota and Oregon return home to face Utah on Saturday at Autzen Stadium(1pm, Fox Sports 1)
