According to the NCAA the University of Oregon’s home Autzen Stadium is the 2nd loudest stadium in the country. In order for it to be that loud, fans need to come. That is one thing that the Ducks may need this weekend. Oregon currently has a sellout streak of 94 games at risk of coming to an end.
Duck fans have plenty of reasons to come support their team, especially after last Thursday night. There may be just a few last opportunities to see Quarterback Marcus Mariota and Running Back De’Anthony Thomas as Duck fans.
For a streak to reach as far as it has(it goes back to my final year in college at Penn State), it pretty remarkable. It is currently the 4th largest in the country. The top of this hill belongs to two signature programs. Nebraska has sold out every game since 1962 and Notre Dame started their streak of 220+ in 1973. Virginia Tech had a streak of 93 consecutive sellouts end earlier this season. One thing that amazes me about Oregon fans is they will show up in anything.
Take for example the ‘Monsoon at Autzen’ earlier this year vs Cal. Yes, the Ducks did have a lead at halftime that was rather comfortable so I don’t blame 80% of the stadium for leaving at halftime. I would have just given credit for showing up. That is what the Ducks needs this weekend to keep the streak alive. That and perhaps the last few times to see some rather special players on the field.
Oregon and Utah kickoff at 1pm PT on Fox Sports 1.
