It was announced today that the California Golden Bears will host the Oregon Ducks from Levi’s Stadium. The stadium, still in the process of being built, will be the home of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers. It seats a cozy 68, 500 and the game will be the first college game in the new stadium. One can only hope the weather will be a little better than the game this season that ended up as the Monsoon at Autzen.
The Cal Bears under Sonny Dykes will likely be coming off of a dismal 2013 campaign. The new stadium, according to the release, will host five other Bears games in 2014 other than the Ducks. The new facility will also be the home for the Super Bowl in 2016 and the new home for the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl starting next year. The bowl is among the mid tier Bowl games for the Pac 12 and starting next year will have a ‘Rose Bowl’ feel with Pac 12 vs Big 10 opponents.
The October 24th game is a Friday contest. It will be televised Nationally on either ESPN or Fox.
