The most important word in that title is ‘could.’ With Northern Illinois’s bowl hopes being dashed on Friday night with a loss to Bowling Green by 20 points Oregon fans now need to route for the Longhorns over the Baylor Bears in Saturday’s Big 12 Title game. The Oregon Ducks football team has been practing and also having some fun. The Eugene area received 6-8 inches of snow on Friday morning and Oregon players took advantage by having a snowball fight with students, as well as some fun at the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex Friday morning.

One thought that crossed my mind yesterday was what ‘if’ the Oregon Ducks hosted the Pac 12 Championship game at Autzen this weekend. It could have been interesting considering the weather and Eugene has no way to really control the snow on the roadways. I know the stadium would have been ready to go.

On ESPN College Gameday BCS Guru Brad Edwards saw Oregon possibly heading to the Sugar Bowl. Of course the matchup everyone wants to see are the Ducks and Alabama, which again is a possibility.

Wherever the Oregon Ducks play this postseason Oregon fans will show their support and show up to watch their team play. After Friday night the BCS picture for Mark Helfrich’s team became a little more clear, but it is still out of focus. I still see Oregon heading to the Alamo Bowl when the dust settles and the choices are made Sunday night(5:30pm PT, ESPN).

But hold that thought. The final year of the BCS could have a surprise in store. We’ll find out soon enough.
