Believe it or not but Baseball will be starting fairly soon. Ok, so it is a little more than a few blinks away but the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association has already compiled their list of Preseason All Americans for the upcoming season and there is an Oregon Duck pitcher that made the cut. Sophomore Lefty Cole Irvin has been named a third team All American.

Last season Irvin took home Pac 12 Player of the Week honors twice, and NCBWA Pitcher of the Week honors once. Last season Irvin was the Saturday/Sunday starter behind Tommy Thorpe. As a Freshman he went 12-3 with four complete games and a 2.48 ERA. Irvin finished the season with12 quality starts and will look to take on a bigger role in the pitching rotation in 2014.

Oregon Baseball kicks off their 2014 season on Valentines Day (February 14th) in Hawaii for four games, followed by a trip to Loyola Marymount for three games. Oregon returns to the friendly confines of PK Park for an ‘extended’ start from February 25th through March 23rd facing some solid competition during the homestretch including Ohio State, Cal State Fullerton, and USC.
