In a do or die type situation, or what may have seemed like one the Oregon Men’s Basketball team came through on Sunday evening to defeat Washington State on the road 71-44. Oregon held the Huskies to 25 percent shooting from the floor. Jason Calliste led the Ducks in scoring off the bench with 20 points. Mike Moser and Ben Carter helped with the rebounding. Oregon did something they haven’t done much in the Pac-12 Conference season. They were able to build a lead in the first half and keep it.
The Ducks started the second half with the first seven points which gave them a 20 point cushion. Calliste was 6 for 6 from the floor in the first half giving Oregon a 13 point lead heading into the break. Oregon, now 2-5 in Conference play will look to make it two in a row on Thursday night against UCLA. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN2 starting at 6pm Pacific Time.
Football player Arik Armstead made his first appearance on the basketball court this season scoring his first points in the paint. He logged a total of four minutes in the game.
