Oregon Women Can’t Overcome Colorado Buffaloes Hot Start, Lose 81-75

Oregon won the opening possession in the Monday night game vs Colorado at Matthew Knight Arena. The game was scheduled for Sunday afternoon but was delayed because of the weather. Colorado was hot from the start. The Ducks were quickly down 7-0 on the scoreboard as the Buffs took a lead helped by 7 rebounds in the first few minutes of action. Jillian Alleyne would hit a shot inside the paint two minutes into the game to get the Ducks on the board.
For the first half Oregon was outshot 48 percent to 30 percent. Colorado also hit 62 percent from three point range. Freshman Chrishae Rowe hit a three point shot with just under a minute left in the first half to bring the Ducks within 10 points of the lead. Paul Westhead’s team was outrebounded 27-17 in the first twenty minutes. The Buffs had 16 Defensive rebounds to the Ducks 7.
Oregon started the second half on a good note with a Lexi Peterson three pointer, followed by a Colorado turnover and another three point shot from Ariel Thomas. With 10 minutes left in the game the Ducks were down six at 63-57 as Danielle Love fouled out. A few minutes earlier Jillian Alleyne picked up her fourth foul. The intimate crowd of about one-thousand had something to cheer about with Lexi Peterson hitting a three point shot putting Oregon down by one. Jillian Alleyne would tie it with a free throw on the following possession.
With just over a minute to go Freshman Chrishae Rowe would tie the game at 75, but Colorado would come back to take a two point lead. On the ensuing possession the Ducks would miss giving Colorado possession with 24.5 seconds left in the game and a two point lead. The Buffs would hit two free throws giving them a four point lead with 6.1 seconds left and Oregon would fall 81-75.
Sophomore Jillian Alleyne would also see her double double streak started several months ago against Connecticut come to an end. She was one rebound shy of continuing the streak. For the game she had nine rebounds to go with 15 points. Chrishae Rowe led the Ducks with 23 points.
"It does mean something. I know when that happens I know I’m working hard and playing my role for the team. I would rather have a win than my individual stats.Alleyne on the Double Double streak ending"
Oregon hosts USC on Friday Night, Valentine’s Day where everyone should wear pink for Breast Cancer Awareness. Tip time from Matthew Knight Arena is set for 7:30pm(Pac-12 Networks)
