The Oregon Baseball team is starting out 2014 doing what they did quite a few times last season, hit in the clutch. For the second game of the series the game was tied late and the Ducks came through. Friday night it was with an eighth inning eight run onslaught, Saturday a pinch hit two hit, two run single in the top of the ninth inning off the bat of Freshman Infielder Mark Karaviotis. Junior Outfielder Kyle Garlick helped set up the Ducks for a second consecutive day going 3-4 and was just a triple shy of hitting for the cycle with a single, double, and a two run home run.

The Ducks also had another solid effort on the mound with Freshman Matt Krook gave up three earned runs with 6 2/3 innings pitched but the bigger story was eleven strikeouts. He allowed just three hits and walked one. Six Year Senior Darrell Hunter came it to earn th victory and Closer Jake Reed earned his second save of the year tossing a scoreless ninth inning.

The three game series comes to a close Sunday at 1pm as Jordan Spencer gets the nod for Oregon. The Ducks will also wrap up their first road trip of the season as they return home to Eugene and PK Park for a long homestand starting with Portland on Tuesday(6pm PT) and a three game weekend set with Cal State Fullerton on Friday(6pm PT) and Saturday(2pm), and Sunday(12pm).
