Moser Leads Oregon Past Arizona State 85-78, Ducks Host Arizona Saturday

For the first time in 19 years the Pac-12 Conference played a basketball game on a Tuesday and Oregon entered the game against Arizona State on a five game winning streak. It would take a top notch defense to had the Ducks a loss – averaging 5.9 blocks per game this season the Sun Devils. The first few minutes would be all Oregon as Damyean Dotson, Mike Moser and Joseph Young would go on a 15-0 run. The Sun Devils finally settled down and found a way to get back into it with some three point shooting of their own.

Waverly Austin would have himself quite the night with ten rebounds and four blocks on Defense. He also had three points on the night. In the second half there were several times where the Sun Devils were clearly losing some composure. With 11:30 left in the game Arizona State was within five points of the lead 53-48. Jahii Carson and his 17 points kept ASU in the game.

With five minutes to go Joseph Young would get the crowd back into the game with a three pointer, followed by a two and a Mike Moser three. Oregon was up 71-59 with 4:32 left as Young appeared to have a steal, but Arizona State called a timeout. Momentum the rest of the way would fall to the Ducks.

It was the sixth win in a row for Dana Altman’s team in front of 9,125 happy fans at Matthew Knight Arena. Oregon had just six turnovers and five steals in the game. Moser had another big night with 22 points and 17 rebounds.

The Ducks are now 21-8 and 9-8 in Pac-12 Conference play heading into the home finale vs Arizona on Saturday afternoon.(1pm PT, CBS).
