NFL Free Agency is all the rage, but several former Oregon players will be taking the field at the Moshofsky Center at the University of Oregon this afternoon for Pro Day activities in front of NFL Coaches, Scouts and the Media.  One former Duck who will not be attending Pro Day with the Ducks is Tight End Colt Lyerla, who was at Portland State yesterday. He told Portland tv station KATU that ‘he couldn’t go to Oregon’s’. Lyerla did his best work at the NFL Combine in my opinion. He didn’t have much to prove in a Pro Day scenerio.

Several Former Ducks did have solid days on Thursday including Running Back De’Anthony Thomas with a 4.38 40 yard dash and Wide Receiver Josh Huff also improved his 4o yard dash time from the NFL Combine with a 4.44. Those were two of the main highlights. Some Ducks from years past also worked out for scouts including Brian Jackson and Lavasier Tuinei, who was with the Seattle Seahawks last season.

On the Defensive side of the ball Defensive End Taylor Hart did well in the drills he peformed through. In passing drills the ball handler was former Oregon Quarterback Nate Costa who showed some rust in his first series of passes. The Wide Receivers had to, in some cases stretch to catch the ball. After a burst of speed off the line they would find themselves slowing to allow the pass to catch up rather than the ball hitting them in stride.

Several players spoke with the media following the event, including De’Anthony Thomas who said the work was grinding but worth it. He was asked if he had spoken to or heard from Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Chip Kelly. His response, “Not really, but I talked with a couple people today..we’ll see how things go.” I saw DAT speaking with several scouts including one from the New York Jets and the Cincinnati Bengals. (let the speculation begin). I’m not sure what it was, but there was also something very cool about his socks today.
