The Oregon Baseball team(12-5, 0-1 Pac-12) is certainly used to the ebb and flow of a long season. When it comes to the games that are important some would say they all are, but when it comes down to positioning and a spot in the post season the in conference part of your schedule is a key element. It is important for any team to get off to a good start when your playing teams in your own backyard so to speak. The Ducks did not do that on Friday night in the opener of a three game series with the USC Trojans(10-6, 1-0 Pac-12).

Oregon Starting Pitcher Tommy Thorpe has been a little off his game of late, but had a solid start on Friday going 7 innings and giving up three runs while striking out 7 Trojans. The Ducks offense had a chance in the end with runners in scoring position in both the eighth and ninth innings, but could not get the job done. USC started the scoring in the top of the third inning with two runs. For the Ducks Mitchell Tolman had two hits, along with Shawn Chase. Kyle Garlick went 1 fo 4 with an RBI, he has now hit safely in 14 straight games for Oregon.

The remainder of the series with the Trojans will be available on the Pac-12 Live Stream. The Ducks will look to even up the series by sending Freshman Matt Krook to the mound on Saturday(2pm PT, Pac-12 Live Stream).
