(Lyle was supposed to announce at 2pm PT, but several sources jumped the gun. At 2:30 he said on Twitter he was yet to make any sort of announcement. He moved his annoucement back to 3pm PT. At 3:07 he made it official.)

Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman over the last few years has found a way to bring the Transfer talent to the Ducks. He has transformed players like Arsalan Kazemi, Jason Calliste, Mike Moser and Joseph Young into household names. Late last year he signed another transfer in Brandon Austin, who came from Providence. The Ducks have been on a roll of late going into their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance in as er many years and some of the country’s top talent has taken notice.

On Wednesday, the day before taking on BYU in Milwaukee Oregon picked up their biggest get in quite a while with a commitment from 5-Star Guard JaQuan Lyle(6’5″, 210 pounds from Huntington Prep(W. Va.). A report from CBS Sports says he is a Top 25 talane and that both Loyd and Austin will have extended roles with the Ducks  that being creating matchup problems with opposing teams. Both guys can play multiple positions. The Ducks will lose several key elements following the NCAA Tournament including Waverly Austin, Mike Moser, Jason Calliste and Johnathan Loyd, who will all graduate. Next season will have a familiar look with Starters Joseph Young(unless he decides to leave early), Damyean Dotson, and Dominic Artis along with Loyd and Lyle.

Oregon has missed on top recruits for the last two years including Anthony Bennett who chose UCLA and last year missed on Aaron Gordon who chose Arizona. This is a solid pickup for Altman and the Ducks.

Austin and Lyle will be eligible to play for Oregon in December of 2014.

Oregon tips off against BYU on Thursday at 12:10pm PT on TruTV from Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.
