Oregon Set to Play Doubleheader Friday in Three Game Set With Stanford
PK Park, Eugene Oregon on Media Day. KPNWSports
Earlier this season Oregon played a mid week doubleheader against Seattle on a Tuesday because of possible inclimate weather in Eugene. Stanford has decided that this same scenerio will be in place for the upcoming series with Oregon this weekend as rainy weather is expected in Palo Alto. The Ducks and Cardinal will play two games on Friday and finish with their three game series on Saturday.
The Ducks Starting Pitchers will remain the same as they have been over the last few weeks with Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honoree Tommy Thorpe throwing on Friday at 3pm, Freshman Lefty Matt Krook on the mound for Friday at 6pm and undefeated this season at 6-0, Jeff Gold throwing on Saturday at 2pm. After sweeping Utah last week the Ducks are in a great position within the Pac-12 Conference.
Oregon currently sits at 5-1 in Conference and 18-6 overall. Stanford is not as good in baseball as they are in football. They stand at 8-10 overall and 1-2 in Conference. Earlier this season Oregon Coach George Horton hit the first of several milestones this season in earning his 900th victory of his coaching career in the opening series of the season against Hawaii. The second milestone could come this weekend. Horton is just 12games shy of earning his 700th career Division I Coaching win and two away from his 200th coaching Oregon.
Again, the shift for this weekend’s series against Stanford will feature a Friday Doubleheader. Game 1 is set for 3pm, Game 2 at 6pm and the Third and final game of the series is Saturday at 2pm. Live Audio for all three games is available on TuneInRadio.
