Oregon Softball Rolls Washington in Home Opening Series
The Oregon Softball team had to deal with some weather related delays over the weekend in their three game sweep of Washington at Howe Field. It marked their first home series of the season and the ladies did not disappoint. Game 1, scheduled for Friday was moved to Saturday morning at 10am. The change did not effect the Ducks.

Pitcher Cheridan Hawkins was stellar throwing five innings in a shortened game, due to the run rule. The Sophomore gave up just two hits in five innings with six strikeouts. The Ducks were led at the plate by Sophomore Outfielder Alyssa Gillespie who hit a grand slam home run in the second inning. In the inning six runs crossed the plate. For the game the Ducks had six different players with hits. Oregon won the game 8-0.
Game two started shortly after and the results for Oregon were similar. Hawkins was back on the mound and after her 17th win on the year. She threw all seven innings for the Ducks with six hits, three walks and five strikeouts. Oregon won the game 4-0. Scoring was a tad bit tighter in Game 2 with the Ducks striking in the Allyson Gillespie reaching base on a fielders choice and Janie Takeda getting her home a batter later. Courtney Ceo who broke the career scoring record for Oregon on Friday had another great game going 3 for 4 with an RBI.
The series finale on Sunday did not go well for the Huskies as the Ducks again used pitching and timely hitting for the series sweep. Senior Kailee Cuico hit a grand slam homerun in the sixth. The All Time Home Run leader now with forty for the Ducks helped give Mike White and the team a key victory early in Pac-12 play and a sweep over rival Washington. The Ducks remain home and will play host to UC Santa Barbara in a Doubleheader on Tuesday(3pm PT, 5pm PT) and will welcome UCLA to Howe Field this weekend on Friday(3pm PT), Saturday(3pm PT) and Sunday(1pm PT). The series with the Bruins will be on the Pac-12 Networks.
