Several sources close to the University of Oregon are reporting that a Former Oregon Basketball Player will suit up on the football field for the upcoming season. Ducks Point Guard Johnathan Loyd has been practicing with the football team. He is eligible to play in the Fall thanks to a loophole that allows players to play for a fifth year in a new sport. He joined the Ducks for the fourth Spring Practice. Loyd will be on the field this fall as a Wide Receiver.
The Ducks are looking to replace Former Wideout Josh Huff who graduated and Loyd is another option at the position.
Loyd was the first recruit for Oregon Basketball Coach Dana Altman and played at both Mac Court and Matthew Knight Arena. He will now also play at Autzen Stadium and for those watching him hit three pointers at MKA I look forward to Oregon Public Address Announcer Don Essig saying ‘Johnny Loyd’ a few more times. In high school Loyd during his senior season suited up for his high school in Las Vegas, Bishop Gormon High School, according to Andrew Greif from the Oregonian.
The Oregon Ducks conclude Spring Practice with the Spring Game inside Autzen Stadium on May 3rd at 11am. The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
