There comes a time in your NFL Career when you make the decision to put up or shut up. However it seems that former Oregon Ducks and Seattle Seahawks Cornerback Walter Thurmond III had decided to give his former team some bulletin board material. Thurmond made the comments at the opening of offseason workouts according to the NFL.com and the New York Daily News. It appears to me that he had a little chat with Seattle Cornerback Richard Sherman, after all he did spend the first three seasons of his NFL career playing with Sherman, or he discovered a new side of his personality in his move across the country in the offseason.
Regardless, now that he has said it, he of course has to back it up. If you look at the New York Giants on paper he may very well be right. Thurmond, along with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a healthy Price Amukamara are far better a secondary that the Giants have had on the last few seasons. If you are a fan of former Oregon Ducks Head Coach Chip Kelly, this kind of ‘player speak’ is good news.
The Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants will meet twice in the regular season since they are both in the NFC East. That should prove a good litmus test to see if Thurmond will have to eat his words. In the offseason, Walter Thurmond signed a one year, three million dollar deal with the Giants.
