The Oregon Ducks came into the weekend series with rival Oregon State hitting on all cylinders. Hitting was great, Pitching was good and it did not take long for the wheels to fall off of the Oregon Ducks bullpen. Following a shaky start on Friday night with Starter Tommy Thorpe the Ducks fought back and almost came out with a victory, having the tying run on base in almost every inning and having several chances to tie or win the game in the end. They couldn’t get it done and lost 2-1.

Saturday brought new optimism with Oregon Ducks  Starter and 9-0 record holder Jeff Gold on the mound. The Senior pitched a great game throwing seven innings of scoreless ball against the Beavers. He allowed four hits, struck out five and walked two. Enter the Oregon bullpen and Garrett Cleavinger. The Sophomore(2-1) had not lost a game in any of his appearances and won his first eleven decisions until Saturday. He ran into problems immediately and gave up four runs in the eighth inning, Oregon would try to rally with a pinch hit by J.B. Bryant with the bases loaded to cut the lead to two before Tyler Baumgartner ended the game by grounding out.

The Oregon Ducks will try to salvage Game three of the series this afternoon(weather permitting) at 1pm. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
