Know the Opponent: B1G Part I

We’re reaching the end of the non-conference previews and with that means we’ve got to look at the historic Big Ten Conference. There are five opponents that PAC-12 schools will face so we’re splitting them into two separate posts starting with Illinois and Rutgers.

Illinois Fighting Illini – 4-8/1-7 B1G, Year three of Tim Beckman in Champaign is set to begin following back-to-back 4-8 seasons. Illinois had 14 returning starters to the team with six on offense and eight on defense. Oklahoma State quarterback transfer Wes Lunt looks to win the starting job from Reilly O’Toole who played a significant amount last season. As mentioned Beckman is looking to snap the string of 4-8 seasons for the Illini who will be in the new Big Ten West division this season. On Saturday, September 13 they face Washington at Husky Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 1 pm on FOX. Last season these two faced off at Soldier Field in Chicago with the Huskies winning 34-24 over the Fighting Illini.
