PAC-12 Football Weekend Recap Week 3

Boston College was the lone blemish in non-conference match-ups this season, while UCLA was close to feeling the same as their cross town rival. Arizona State went to Boulder opening PAC-12 play with a win while Oregon avoided a letdown versus Wyoming.

Here are all the results from this weekend of PAC-12 conference play.

Saturday, September 13 –

Wyoming Cowboys (2-1) 14 @ 2 Oregon Ducks (3-0) 48: Wyoming led 7-0 after the first quarter before Oregon scored 41 unanswered points which started with 27 in the second quarter and 14 more after half. Marcus Mariota had another solid day completing 19-of-23 passes for 221 yards with two touchdown passes, in addition to 71 more on the ground with two more scores. The Cowboys did put up 439 yards of total offense on the Ducks but did allowed 556. Next up for Oregon is a trip to Pullman against Washington State (1-2) that’ll open conference play, kickoff at 7:30 pm/ESPN.

Army Black Knights (1-1) 0 @ 15 Stanford Cardinal (2-1) 35: No. 15 Stanford wasn’t flashy in their 35-0 victory over Army but it was a win. The Cardinal defense held the Black Knights to 207 yards of total offense which was run heavy, as the Cadets only threw it five times for nine yards. Kevin Hogan threw four TD’s and was a efficient 20-of-28 for 216 yards. Barry Sanders ran nine times for 92 yards for a 10.2 yards per carry average. Next up for Stanford will be a trip to Seattle on September 27 against Washington (3-0)/Time to be Determined.

Illinois Illini (2-1) 19 @ Washington Huskies (3-0) 44: After two close calls to open Washington had a stress less win against previously unbeaten Illinois. As a team the Huskies put up 245 yards rushing while holding the Illini to 72. Cyler Miles had 191 yards passing while completing 15-of-20 passes. In addition to holding Illinois to 1-of-11 on third down Washington forced three turnovers in the victory. Next up for Washington is their final non-conference game when they host Georgia State (1-2) at 3 pm/PAC-12 Network.

Portland State Vikings (1-2) 21 @ Washington State Cougars (1-2) 59: Behind 706 yards of offense Washington State got their first victory of 2014 against Portland State. Connor Halliday threw for 544 yards which included six touchdowns through the air. Isiah Myers caught 11 passes for 227 yards with three touchdowns. Dom Williams had 112 yards catching just four passes two were for scores. Next up Washington State is their conference opener at home versus 2 Oregon (3-0) at 7:30 pm/ESPN.

9 Southern California Trojans (2-1) 31 @ Boston College Eagles (2-1) 37: USC raced out to 10-0 lead after the first 15-minutes and trailed 20-17 at half. Boston College outscored the Trojans 17-14 in the second half en route to a 37-31 upset. Southern California surrendered 506 yards with 452 on the ground. Cody Kessler completed 31-of-41 for 317 yards throwing four touchdowns. Javorius Allen only ran for 31 yards but caught nine passes for 118 yards. Southern California returns to action on September 27 when they host Oregon State (2-0) at 7:30 pm/ESPN.

12 UCLA Bruins (3-0) 20 v. Texas Longhorns (1-2) 17 (Cowboy Stadium/Arlington, TX): Show of hands to those thinking that if Brett Hundley left with injury the Bruins win. Jerry Neuheisel came off the bench throwing for 178 yards with two TD’s including the winner score late to Jordan Payton with three minutes remaining. Paul Perkins ran for 126 yards on 24 carries for UCLA who as a team ran for 217 yards. Next up for UCLA’s next game is a Thursday night tilt on September 25 at Arizona State (3-0, 1-0 PAC-12) at 7 pm/FOX Sports 1.

16 Arizona State Sun Devils (3-0, 1-0 PAC-12) 38 @ Colorado Buffaloes (1-2, 0-1 PAC-12): UCLA wasn’t the only team that suffered an injury to their quarterback as ASU’s Taylor Kelly got hurt. Leading 17-0 the Sun Devils saw Colorado score 14 unanswered points before Arizona State made it 24-17 at half. The Buffaloes wouldn’t get closer than seven points and were outscored 14-10 in the 14 point defeat. Kelly threw three TD’s and for 195 yards before leaving rushing for 70 with a score. D.J. Foster has another big night carrying 20 times for 147 yards, he had 59 receiving with one touchdown rushing/receiving. Colorado’s Sefo Liufau threw for 278 and three touchdowns with two going to Nelson Spruce who had 97 yards. Christian Powell ran for 118 yards on 11 carries in the defeat. The Sun Devils return to action hosting UCLA (3-0) on Thursday, September 25 kicking off at 7 pm/FOX Sports 1. Colorado hosts Hawai’i at noon/PAC-12 Network.

Nevada Wolfpack (2-1) 28 @ Arizona Wildcats (3-0) 35: Arizona built a 21-6 lead before seeing Nevada tying the game at 21 with 6:05 left in the quarter. The Wildcats scored 14 of the final 21 points to remain unbeaten at 3-0 and close their non-conference slate. Anu Soloman completed 22-of-26 passes 278 yards with three TD passes. Nick Wilson ran 29 times for 171 yards with two touchdowns, while Cayleb Jones caught nine passes for 116 yards with two scores. Arizona hosts California (2-0) in their conference opener next week with kickoff scheduled for 7 pm/PAC-12 Network.
