PAC-12 Football Weekend Recap Week 4

Another week of positive results for Pac-12 teams against non-conference foes as Colorado, Utah, Washington and Oregon State took care of business. However, two conference games produced exciting results as Oregon held off Washington State and Arizona needed a hail Mary to defeat Cal in Tucson.

Here are all the results from this weekend of PAC-12 conference play.

Saturday, September 20 –

Hawai’i Warriors (1-3) 12 @ Colorado Buffaloes (2-2) 21: Hawai’i kicked four field goals and had 286 yards of offense in Boulder on Saturday. Colorado on the other hand put up 405 yards of offense, 287 through the air in the victory. Nelson Spruce had another big day receiving with 13 catches for 172 yards with a touchdown. Next up for Colorado is a trip west to Berkeley against Cal (2-1, 0-1 PAC-12) at 1 pm/PAC-12 Network.

Utah Utes (3-0) 26 @ Michigan Wolverines (2-2) 10: Utah had to wait out a weather delay in their victory at the “Big House”. Andy Phillips was 4-of-5 kicking field goals for the Utes, who also returned a punt for a score. Travis Wilson/Kendal Thompson saw time at QB due to Wilson being knocked out for part of the game. Utah added to the Michigan offensive struggles by forcing four turnovers and keeping them out of the endzone (Wolverines intercepted a Thompson pass for a touchdown). Next up for Utah hosts Washington State (1-3, 0-1 PAC-12) with kickoff scheduled for 5 pm/PAC-12 Network.

Georgia State Panthers (1-3) 14 @ Washington Huskies (4-0) 45: Washington trailed their Sun Belt opponent 14-0 at half before piling on 45 unanswered points to remain unbeaten. The Huskies held the Panthers to 273 yards of offense while forcing four turnovers that helped get UDub back in the game. Cyler Miles was an efficient 19-of-27 for 154 yards with three passing TD’s. Next up for Washington is their conference opener against No. 16 Stanford (2-1, 0-1 PAC-12) at 1:15 pm/FOX.

California Golden Bears (2-1, 0-1 PAC-12) 45 @ Arizona Wildcats (4-0, 1-0 PAC-12) 49: Arguable the best game of the day that game down to the final play. California lead 28-6 at half and 31-13 after three quarters before Arizona got things going. Trailing by 28-points with 15 minutes left the Wildcats outscored Cal 36-14. Offensively the Bears put up 573 yards while ‘Zona had 627 on offense in what was a classic PAC-12 tussle. Anu Soloman threw it 73 times completing 47 for 520 yards and five touchdowns but was intercepted twice. Cayleb Jones had 186 yards on 13 receptions catching two TD’s, Austin Hill who caught the game winning hail Mary with no time left had 127 yards with two scores. In the losing effort Jared Goff threw for 380 and three passing touchdowns, Daniel Lasco rushed for 123 yards with two scores, Bryce Treggs had 119 yards with a TD. Next up for Cal is a home game versus Colorado (2-2, 0-1 PAC-12) at 1 pm/PAC-12 Network. Arizona returns to action Thursday, October 2 when they travel to Eugene for a match-up with No. 2 Oregon (4-0, 1-0 PAC-12) at 7:30 pm/ESPN

2 Oregon Ducks (4-0, 1-0 PAC-12) 38 @ Washington State Cougars (1-3, 0-1 PAC-12) 31: Wazzu was game for No. 2 Oregon in Pullman nearly pulling off the upset. Washington State led 14-7 after a quarter and was tied 21 all at the half. The Ducks Pharoah Brown’s third quarter TD was the lone score in the third quarter which turned out being the difference. Marcus Mariota scored five total touchdowns he was an efficient 21-of-25 passing with 329 passing and added 58 rushing. Devon Allen 142 yards and Keanon Love 104 each had two TD’s caught 12 of Mariota’s 21 completions. Connor Halliday in defeat threw for 436 and four TD passes, River Cracraft had 107 of them with a score. Oregon returns to action October 2 when they host Arizona (4-0, 1-0 PAC-12) at 7:30 pm. Washington State travels to Salt Lake City this week against Utah (3-0) at 5 pm/PAC-12 Network.

San Diego State Aztecs (1-2) 7 @ Oregon State Beavers (3-0) 28: San Diego State scored first before Oregon State put up the last 28-points. The Beavers defense held their opponents to 215 total yards of offense while controlling the action. OSU wasn’t flashy on offense Sean Mannion passed for 275 yards while going 24-of-31 passing. Storm Woods/Terron Ward each rushed for two TD’s supplying the 28 points. Next up for Oregon State is a trip down to LA against No. 18 Southern California (2-1, 1-0 PAC-12) at 7:30 pm/ESPN.
