Oregon Basketball Looks to Gain Experience and Chemistry Entering 2014

The 2014 College Basketball season is upon us and Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman along with Senior Joseph Young were on hand for Media Day last week to talk about the upcoming season. Following an NCAA run in 2013-14, Oregon released key players in  the off season in Damyean Dotson and Dominic Artis and Oregon was forced to find a way to rebuild the team around Young. Time will tell how well this ‘experiment’ will mesh.

One advantage Young has in his favor – he is a born competitor. He told the media on hand to tweet that he was coming for the Pac-12 Championship Trophy this season, and the media followed his direction. Young has reason to be excited about the upcoming season, “I stayed in the gym, all started out this summer, went to Lebron’s camp.” Altman also has reasons to be optimistic, “We’ve had more two a day practices to get guys familiar with what we want to do. New guys are going to have to do a better job of following Joseph’s lead. We only have three guys who have played on the big stage. Just trying to spend as much time with the new guys as possible to get them ready to go.”

Oregon starts the 2014 campaign against Coppin State on Friday, November 14th(9pm PT, Pac-12 Networks).
