Coming off two exhibition wins, the Oregon Ducks took to the floor for their home opener, wining the last sixteen in a row. The start of the game would not go their way, but the turnaround was quick.

Coppin State came into Eugene on Friday night like a team on a mission taking an early 11-2 lead on the Oregon Ducks thanks to four early rebounds and hitting three three-pointers in the first two and a half minutes of the game. Joseph Young brought the team back hitting two three point shots for Oregon.

Coppin State would respond as the early going saw both teams exchanging baskets. Elgin Cook helped Oregon get their first lead of the game at the 11:34 mark in the first half. The slim lead was 25-24 after battling for close to ten minutes. Young and Cook led the charge. Oregon began pulling away toward the end of the first half picking up foul shots from Joseph Young. The Senior would head into halftime leading both teams in scoring with twenty-five points to go along with three rebounds and three assists.

If Young was the only scorer the Oregon Ducks would have been losing by two points at halftime. Oregon led by thirty-three at the break 60-27 and  out rebounded Coppin State twenty-eight to sixteen in the first half.

As they  continued to pull away in the second half, the Oregon Freshman started getting into the game with Dillon Brooks adding eleven and Casey Benjamin off the bench adding thirteen points. Dana Altman’s team shot fifty-five percent from the floor and dominated in rebounds. Oregon won the game going away, and Senior Joseph Young finished the game with thirty-two points. The win was Oregon’s seventeenth consecutive home opening victory. Final score, Oregon 107, Coppin State 65

Oregon broke one-hundred points for the third straight game, including two exhibition games.

The Oregon Ducks are now 1-0 on the season and host Detroit on Monday night at 8pm PT.
