Before the 2014 season began Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman spoke about his team, unsure of what he was going to get to start. Chemistry between new players was a key concern. Entering what he called the ‘toughest three game stretch of his career at Oregon’ starting with Toledo the official test of the season would begin for this year’s Oregon Ducks.

Toledo entered the game having won twenty-seven games last season and came out acting like it putting up the first five points of the game, but Oregon came right back to tie it at five. The first half was a battle but Oregon never backed down. Senior Guard Joseph Young, who struggled against Detroit earlier this week had twenty-four points and was seven of thirteen from the floor. Oregon had key minutes and points from Elgin Cook and Dwayne Benjamin who both had double-doubles.

Oregon never trailed in the game after halftime and beat Toledo 78-68. The win was also an important one for Head Coach Dana Altman, it was his one-hundredth victory as Coach at Oregon. The team now heads east to continue in the Progressive Legends Classic. Oregon faces their first ranked team of the season in Michigan on Monday night at the Barclay’s Center in New York. When asked about the games head, Altman was cautious, but tentative according to GoDucks.com, “”We’re off to a good start here. It’s only 10 percent of our schedule, so we’ve got a long ways to go, but it’s a good start.”

Oregon and Michigan tip off on Monday night at 6:30pm Pacific Time. The game will be available on ESPN3.
