PAC-12 Football Weekend Recap Week 14

We look back at another fun week of football across the conference, we’re still a week away from learning who’ll represent the south division in Santa Clara.

Here are all the results from this weekend of PAC-12 conference play.
Friday, November 28 –
Stanford Cardinal (7-5, 5-4 PAC-12) 31 @ 8 UCLA Bruins (9-3, 6-3 PAC-12) 10: All UCLA needed was a win versus defending the defending conference champion. The Bruins struck first and led 10-7 before Stanford scored 24 unanswered points. Kevin Hogan was on point completing 16-of-19 passes for 234 yards with two passing touchdowns while adding 46 more rushing in the Cardinal’s win. Brett Hundley was held to 146 passing while Paul Perkins ran for 116 in defeat. Stanford and UCLA will learn of their bowl fate next weekend.
13 Arizona State Sun Devils (9-3, 6-3 PAC-12) 35 @ 11 Arizona Wildcats (10-2, 7-2 PAC-12) 42: With the results from the Rose Bowl the Territorial Cup winner claimed the south division. It was a back and forth first half that saw a 21 all tie. Arizona outscoring Arizona State 14-0 in the third quarter proved to be the difference. Anu Soloman threw for 208 yards on 15-of-21 passing tossing a pair of TD’s while Nick Wilson rushed for 178 with three scores. Taylor Kelly/Mike Bercovici combined for 267 yards passing and four touchdown passes in the seven point loss. Arizona State will have to wait and see which bowl selects them. Arizona faces Oregon (10-1, 8-1 PAC-12) Friday at Levi Stadium at 6 pm/FOX.
Saturday, November 29 –
25 Utah Utes (8-4, 5-4 PAC-12) 38 @ Colorado Buffaloes (2-10, 0-9 PAC-12) 34: Once again Colorado got out to a fast start leading 24-16 at half. Utah outscored the Buffs 22-10 after halftime to claim a win. Each team put up over 430 yards of offense in this high scoring affair in Boulder. Travis Wilson had 311 yards while tossing three TD passes, Devontae Booker just missed a 100 yards finishing with 95 but did score a TD, Kaelin Clay caught two touchdowns and had 88 yards. Sefo Liufau threw for 317 in another loss with 101 of them going to Tyler McCulloch, Nelson Spruce had the lone touchdown reception while having 91 yards, Christian Powell rushed for three scores. Utah’s season will continues in a bowl game while Colorado’s season ends.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-5) 14 @ Southern California Trojans (8-4) 49: Southern Cal built a 21-0 first quarter lead and never looked back against Notre Dame. Cody Kessler threw six touchdown passes which is the most ever versus the Irish and finished with 372 yards on 32 of 40 passing. Nelson Aqholor only caught one touchdown but had 120 yards on 12 receptions. USC forced two turnovers and chased ND quarterback Everett Golson from the game.
BYU Cougars (8-4) 42 @ California Golden Bears (5-7) 35: California needed a win against BYU to become bowl eligible but fell short. After 30 minutes the Bears lead 21-14 and after a back and forth second half tied the game at 35 before the Cougars scored the winning score late. Jared Goff passed for 393 with four touchdowns while Daniel Lasco rushed for 130 and Kenny Lawler had 138 receiving catch three TD’s. That wasn’t enough as BYU got a 38-yard touchdown pass from Christian Stewart to Jordan Leslie that won the game. Cal needed one victory in their last two games but end 2014 one win short of bowling.
2 Oregon Ducks (10-1, 8-1 PAC-12) 47 @ Oregon State Beavers (5-7, 2-7) 19: Oregon and Oregon State meet in another Civil War match-up with both needing wins. The Ducks are still playing for a conference crown and playoff berth while the Beavers still needed a win to go bowling. Marcus Mariota had six total touchdowns, four passing and two rushing racking up 367 passing, 39 via his legs. Royce Freeman put up another 100 yard night going for 135, Byron Marshall caught six passes with one TD for 131. Storm Woods in a losing effort had 128 with a score, he also caught six passes for 58. Sean Mannion finished his great career passing for 162 yards with a touchdown pass. Oregon faces Arizona (10-2, 7-2 PAC-12) Friday looking to avenge their lone defeat in the PAC-12 championship game 6 pm/FOX. Oregon State’s season comes to end.
Washington Huskies (8-5, 4-5 PAC-12) 31 @ Washington State Cougars (3-9, 2-7 PAC-12) 13): Chris Peterson’s Huskies dominated leading 31-0 before the Cougs closed with 13 points. Washington forced three turnovers and outgained Washington State 437 to 376 in the win. Dwayne Washington rushed 16 times for 135 yards reaching the end zone twice for UDub. Luke Falk threw for 355 yards in the Apple Cup defeat that ended the Cougars season. Washington waits to find out which bowl they’ll play in next Sunday.
