The Oregon Ducks and Florida State Seminoles will take to the field at the Rose Bowl on Thursday and as the players prepare for the game those that are working with them may be looking for a nice bonus in the Christmas stocking a week after the holiday, not that the additional motivation is needed.

Bloomberg BusinessWeek recently published a report that the Oregon Coaching staff is due to bring in over 1.38 million dollars in bonus money for a win over the Seminoles on Friday in the first College Football Playoff Semifinal. The Oregon Ducks bonus structure is likely more backloaded to allow for that kind of incentive according to the report.

Some football teams, including Oregon and Ohio State decided to restructure the contracts of coaches in the offseason this past year in anticipation of the College Football Playoff shifting the structure to change for Semifinal and National Championship Appearances, if the team makes it that far.

The amount of the bonus is higher than the other three teams playing, Alabama, Ohio State, and Florida State combined.  The Oregon Ducks and Florida State Seminoles face off in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day at 2pm Pacific Time on ESPN. Kickoff is set for 2:20pm.
