Alleyne Scores Another Double-Double in Win Over Arizona

The Oregon Ducks looked to even their record on Friday night against Arizona and won the opening tipoff against the Wildcats. Arizona came into the game second to last in the Pac-12 Conference and Oregon looked to improve their conference mark of 4-8 with a win. The Wildcats struck first in the annual Play for Kay game to raise Cancer Awareness.

Less than five minutes into the game Megan Carpenter found herself in trouble with two fouls. Midway through the first half it was Arizona with the edge hitting fifty percent of their shots for a 19-11 lead with 11:38 left in the first half. Oregon would tie the game with 5:25 left in the first half. Jalia Bennett would keep Arizona in the lead with a two point shot that would fall after she was fouled and the Wildcats would then go back to Bennett to give Arizona a four point lead with 3:43 remaining in the first half.

Oregon would fight back and take a 34-27 lead into halftime. Jillian Alleyne lead all scorers with twelve going five for five from the field with ten rebounds reaching a double double in the game. Oregon will look to stay out of foul trouble in the second half.

The Ducks came out firing to start the second half to take a 47-29 lead with key three point shots from Lexi Petersen and Lexi Bando forcing an Arizona timeout. Oregon would maintain their lead until Jillian Alleyne was called for two fouls in a matter of five seconds in the second half allowing Arizona points an making it 58-44 Oregon. Arizona would pull within twelve points with just over eight minutes remaining in the game.

Oregon would take a twelve point lead into the final five minutes of the game. Lexi Peterson would hit the ground hard and have the ball stolen from her as she lost her shoe. She quickly got it back on to make a two point jump shot to give Oregon a 67-53 lead with 4:04 remaining in the game.

Alleyne would finish the game with seventeen points and fourteen rebounds in a win for Oregon 75-61 to even their season record at 12-12 and 5-8 in the Pac-12 Conference. The weekend game with Arizona State is set for Sunday afternoon at 4:30pm Pacific Time. The Sundevils are third in the Pac-12 Conference and an Oregon win would get them to 6-8 in Conference.
