Will Marcus Mariota Jump Jameis Winston For Top Pick in NFL Draft?
Several months ago it was Florida State Quarterback Jameis Winston who was all the rage when it came to the top pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Several mock drafts released in the last month are starting to show that the tide may be turning away from Winston and pointing in the direction of former Oregon Ducks Quarterback Marcus Mariota. The former Ducks signal caller has been busy the last few weeks with workouts for several different teams, including Tampa Bay last week and more recently with the San Diego Chargers.
Former Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback and ESPN Analyst Ron Jaworski has even added to the speculation, according to a report from thebiglead.com, Mariota’s suitor will likely be Tampa Bay according to Jaws, ““The latest I’m hearing now from my sources around the league, who are pretty wired in, is that he’s going to go number one now to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers” Of course, rumors will continue to swirl concerning Mariota’s landing spot in the National Football League and there is still hope for a Chip Kelly/Mariota reunion in Philadelphia with the Eagles, but it looks right now that the price may be too high for Philly to move up to get him.
When it comes to the draft, the article mentions, it comes down to coaches and general managers communicating with who they want on the team. There are many more positive attributes when it comes to Mariota then Winston – see off the field issues – this could ultimately land Mariota with Tampa Bay come draft day.
The 2015 NFL Draft begins on Thursday April 30th.
