Oregon Faces Navy To Start 2015 Season In Pearl Harbor Ceremonies
For years now, the Oregon Ducks have honored the Nation’s Military with the Annual Spring Football Game. The trend has also spilled over into the Men’s Basketball program. It was announced on Wednesday that Oregon will play for the second time in three seasons in a game to honor the Military on the hardwood.
The Ducks defeated Georgetown in the Armed Forces Challenge from Camp Humphreys in South Korea to open the 2013 season and made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament
Oregon will play Navy for the first time as part of the Pearl Harbor Ceremonies on December 7th in Bloch Arena which survived the attack in 1941, according to the release from the University of Oregon. The four team pod will also include fellow 2014 NCAA Tournament team Villanova and Oklahoma.
Fox Sports 1 will make the event part of a three day weekend surrounding Pearl Harbor Day.
“We are extremely honored to have been asked to participate in the Pearl Harbor Day ceremonies. Not only will this be a tremendous way to honor both past and current members of our armed services, but it will also be a truly unique educational opportunity for our student-athletes.”
