Oregon Ducks Named Number Two Overall Seed, Set to Host Eugene Regional

The Oregon Ducks are the number two overall seed in teh 2015 NCAA Tournament. After being ranked number one in the country for the better part of a month, the Ducks were trumped by the Florida Gators for the top spot. It makes sense since the Gators have beat the Ducks in their two meetings this season.

Oregon enters the post season strong winning sixteen of their last seventeen games, and fifteen straight games over the last month. Oregon welcomes three teams to Howe Field for the opening round of the Tournament this weekend. Fresno State, North Dakota State, and BYU, who Oregon faces on Friday night. It will be the Ducks sixteenth appearance in the NCAA Tourament for Softball.

BYU has made the NCAA Tournament each of the last three seasons with Oregon getting the better of the three matchups twice in 2012 and once in 2013 in the Eugene Regional.Fresno State has made thirty appearances in the Tounament but have not been there since 2011. North Dakota State made the NCAA Tournament last season. The 2015 field also includes seven teams making their first appearance in the post season.

Fresno State and North Dakota State will get things started on Thursday at 2pm Pacific Time from Howe Field with Oregon taking the Circle with 27-3 Cheridan Hawkins at 5pm Pacific Time.
