According to the Oregonian, it is expected that Kampmoyer will play on the Defensive side of the ball and see time at the Linebacker position, an area where Oregon has struggled to recruit key talent the last two years. Andrew Nemic says with Kampmoyer in the fold there is hope that the Oregon Ducks can turn things around and pick up another solid recruit or two at the position before the end of the recruiting cycle.
Kampmoyer is the third Defensive Commitment for the Class of 2016 joining Safety Brady Breeze and Defensive Back Troy Warner, both four star athletes.
Kampmoyer was originally committed to Arizona State, but reopened the recruiting process in April. He talked about his decision with the Oregonian on Tuesday, “I was too focused on the future and wasn’t focusing on what was important right now. I sat down with my family and they said that I tend to do that a lot. I decided to de-commit and focus on what’s important now.”
