Oregon Pitchers Nagosek and Peterson Look to Make USA Baseball National Team

The Oregon Ducks are having a busy summer on the Diamond, with two former players signing contracts with Major League teams this week in Mitchell Tolman and Josh Graham. Two members of the current roster are working toward getting better for the 2016 season by trying out for the USA Baseball team and playing this summer.

Oregon Ducks pitchers Stephen Nagosek and Starter David Peterson were in training on Friday in tryouts for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.

According to GoDucks.com

the two Ducks are among twenty-nine players across the nation looking to make the twenty-four man roster that will begin play on July 1st in Cuba.

As a Freshman, Petersen went 4-6 in his Freshman season with a 4.39 ERA, leading the team in Strikeouts with 81 strikeouts on the season. Nagosek, as a reliever finished 6-3 with a 2.02 ERA as a Sophomore and 60 strikeouts. Both played a key role from the mound to get Oregon into the NCAA Tournament this past season.  Petersen went 3-1 in his final five games of the season including picking up a big win at PK Park against top ranked UCLA to end the season.

The USA Baseball National Team will face Chinese Taipei, Cuba, and begins on June 28th. Competition concludes on July 7th.
