It was a good day for the Oregon Ducks on the recruiting front on Thursday as two of the top high school athletes announced their commitments. The Oregon Football Recruiting cycle is in full swing in Eugene.

LaMar Winston will remain in state

and likely play Linebacker for the Oregon Ducks. He will have a familiar face at Oregon as fellow teammate from Central Catholic High School Brady Breeze is also coming to Oregon. Winston and Breeze, along with Darrian Franklin and Troy Dye who will look to make up one of the stronger classes at Linebacker for the Ducks in quite a while.

The Ducks also picked up a four star Defensive Back in Jared Mayden who will look to lock down one of the Cornerback positions for Oregon. Bleacher Report calls Mayden a ‘genius’ and has posted a video of his skills. He is one to get excited about and National Signing Day can’t get here soon enough with these two additions to the Class of 2016.

I would expect both of these four-star players to be in the running to start for Oregon on the field in 2016. Of course, time will tell. Oregon appears to be recruiting in areas that have not necessarily been a strength in the recent past on the Defensive side of the ball. They have been able to get by and teach the talent that was available. Both of these young guys have talent. It may not necessarily the teaching that is needed, but working on an already established skill set to make it better. It will be fun to watch.

The Oregon Football Recruiting Cycle concludes in February with National Signing Day on February 5th for the Class of 2016.
