Oregon Ducks Media Day: Storylines Abound Entering 2015 Season

Less than twenty-four hours since it was announced that Running Back Thomas Tyner would miss the season from surgery following a shoulder injury suffered last season, the Oregon Ducks held their Annual Media Day festivities at Autzen Stadium on Monday morning. One of the first questions of the day focused on two position player Byron Marshall who spent 2013 as a Running Back and 2014 as a Wide Receiver.

Marshall is the obvious choice, in my mind, to shift back to Running Back to team with Sophomore Royce Freeman. Another name not mentioned much since last season was Oregon Ducks Wide Receiver Devon Allen, who was injured during the Rose Bowl win against Florida State. He has worked on his recovery from a torn ACL, and is making a push for Fall Camp to be ready for the season opener against Eastern Washington.

Among the other highlights on the day a Mariota made the roster, but his first name wasn’t Marcus. His younger brother Matt Mariota will be joining the team a a walk on for the Defense at the Outside Linebacker position.

There is plenty to talk about for Oregon Ducks Football fans, the other key questions surrounded the Quarterbacks with Jeff Lockie getting the nod for Fall Camp and Vernon Adams not present for media day questions. He is expected to join the team on Thursday and Head Coach Mark Helfrich said he would ‘ideally’ name the first game starter five or six days from the game.

Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg of the storylines we will follow as Fall Camp begins in earnest.

Autzen Zoo will have coverage leading up to the start of the regular season. The Oregon Ducks 2015 Season Opener is Saturday, September 5th hosting Eastern Washington at Autzen Stadium(5pm Pacific Time, Pac-12 Networks).
