The California Golden Bears are running with Sonny Dykes style on offense, which a times has been dangerous. (See Washington State and a close game against USC last season.) The team is entering the second year with Defensive Coordinator Art Kaufman and some key members return on the Defensive side of the ball. Let’s Take a Glance at the 2015 Cal Bears.
Schedule: Grambling State (9/5), San Diego State (9/12), @Texas (9/19), @Washington (9/26), Washington State (10/3), @Utah (10/10), @UCLA (10/22), USC (10/31), @Oregon (11/7), Oregon State (11/14), @Stanford (11/21), Arizona State (11/28)
Non-Conference Thoughts: Playing an FCS, Non-Power 5 and Power 5 team seems like a nice play for the Cal Bears. The Aztecs plus Longhorns should be the only non-conference challenges for the Bears before getting into league play.
Conference Schedule: Starting with the Washington schools plus Utah could get Sonny Dykes out to a nice start before seeing UCLA/USC/Oregon three straight games. Closing with Stanford and Arizona State will also be tough for this improving team.
Outlook: 6-6, I truly like how Dykes teams have done since he’s arrived in Berkeley a few years ago and love Jared Goff at QB. Will there be bumps? Most definitely, however I think the Cal Bears can surprise teams while being more competitive against upper conferences foes.
Goff is cleary the star of this team, but he should also have a solid supporting cast including Senior Running Back Daniel Lasco. The Golden Bears Fall Practice is open to the public. Oregon will host Cal in 2015 on November 7th.
