Vernon Adams, Quarterback, Senior

Regardless of who is the Starting Quarterback for this team, both Vernon Adams and Jeff Lockie have the talent to lead. Adams, will be able to do more, but Lockie has been a key member of this team the last several seasons as the backup for Marcus Mariota. He also had a great Spring Game to help build his confidence and he will have one of the top receiving groups in the country to throw to. Adams is in the position of having to come in and learn a new offense and will also have to build rapport and chemistry with his new teammates. There are challenges for both of these young men, but whoever earns the starting spot will have the tools to get the job done.

Adams was named the Starting Quarterback for the game against Eastern Washington on August 28th, just two weeks after he started practicing with the Oregon Ducks. For fans, it is exciting, but the fact that the Oregon Offensive keys have been handed from Marcus Mariota to Vernon Adams is a huge step. Now, can Adams deliver. Word from Practice is he has a better zip on the ball on his release over any other Quarterbacks on the Oregon Ducks roster entering the season. He also appears to have built some really good chemisty in a short time with Starting Wide Receiver Dwayne Stanford. Adams comes from success at Eastern Washington where he threw for over ten-thousand yards in two years. Will that translate for the top ten Oregon Ducks. We’re about to find out.

The Oregon Ducks begin the 2015 campaign hosting Adams’ former team, Eastern Washington on Saturday, September 5th. He was named the Starter for the Oregon Ducks less than two months after joining the team and the game at Michigan State on September 12th will tell a lot about this team moving through the rest of the Pac-12 schedule including facing Stanford on the road and USC and Oregon State at home.
