Ducks In The NFL: Hroniss Grasu Set To Make First NFL Start With Chicago Bears
Week five of the NFL season will see a former Oregon Duck make his debut. Chicago Bears Center and former Oregon Center Hroniss Grasu is set to start today in a place that is never easy to play. He won’t have the luxury of starting a game at home, but on the road a Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs. Chicago has appeared not very settled on the Offensive Line this season and according to the Chicago Tribune, it is a problem they will have to fix quickly by finding the right pieces. The hope is, Grasu anchoring the line will be the key to resurrecting their season.
The Chicago Bears are 1-3 on the season and third in the NFC Central. After all the snaps to Quarterback Marcus Mariota at Oregon that ended up in successful plays at the college level, Hroniss Grasu will now have a quick learning curve at the NFL level snapping the ball to Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler who may have to adjust not receiving the ball from a veteran, but now a rookie. What do the Bears have to lose in starting Grasu? Absolutely nothing. If he can provide an established presence on the line, Cutler will have a chance to be successful.
"You just have to be a technician. And then you go out there and be nasty and trust that the guys next to you will be there and help make your job easier.Hroniss Grasu on playing Center (via The Chicago Tribune)"
During the preseason Grasu looked undersized and was pushed around. Now he will have an opportunity to start his first game at the next level. Chicago and Kansas City kickoff at 10am Pacific Time on FOX.
