A year after playing in the inaugural College Football Playoff and losing to Ohio State, the Oregon Ducks are at 5-3 on the season, have won two road games in a row and as expected, are no where to be found in the release of the initial rankings for the College Football Playoff. Overall the Pac-12 will have some work to do if it hopes to have a team ranked high enough for one of the coveted top four spots. As it stands right now, the Stanford Cardinal have the best opportunity to make a run, but the way the Pac-12 Conference has beaten itself up in 2015, the likelihood of that happening is pretty remote.
Stanford still has to face Colorado on the road followed by three home games to conclude the regular season hosting Oregon, Cal and Notre Dame on the Farm. The Conference has been a challenge this season and without an undefeated team, it will be that much harder to make a run at the College Football Playoff. There was a surprise yesterday when the first numbers did come out.

Clemson topped Ohio State in the rankings for the number one slot, followed by LSU in second, the Buckeyes in third and a one loss Alabama team rounding out the top four. The Pac-12 had three teams in the Top 25 starting with Stanford(11), Utah(12) and a team that was expected to contend in the South, UCLA(23) just hanging on. The Oregon Ducks, according to one source, was ranked 76th with no chance this season. Three losses will do that.
