Oregon Ducks Basketball in Hawaii: Previewing the Navy Midshipmen
The Oregon Ducks Men’s Basketball team fought and fought hard to come back against UNLV earlier this week, but the Runnin’ Rebels used three point shots from the start of the game to keep Oregon playing catchup.
The closest they came was late in the second half by cutting the UNLV lead to 5, but former Oregon player Ben Carter, who played one of the better games of the season, bested his former team beating the Oregon Ducks in Las Vegas. The road trip continues on Monday for Oregon in a game against Navy.
Monday’s game is special. It is on Pearl Harbor Day. As the nation reflects back on the 74th Anniversary, the game will be played at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Historic Bloch Arena, a building that withstood the Japanese bombings in 1941.
Last Time Out:
- Three Point Shots took down the Oregon Ducks as UNLV hit 8 of 16 to start the game and 2 in the second half.
- Dwayne Benjamin was again effective for Oregon leading 4 players in double figures
- Chris Boucher, despite fouling out had 11 rebounds to go with 11 points and 2 blocked shots against UNLV
Despite the loss to UNLV, the Oregon Ducks are still averaging better than 77 points per game. Tyler Dorsey, who took a nasty fall in the second half against UNLV leads the team averaging just over 14 points per game, but in all seven games this season Head Coach Dana Altman has shown he can move the ball around with multiple games with three or four players scoring in double figures including all of the Starters on the floor and bench players. Everyone who played against Fresno State last week had at least two points in the game.
The University of Oregon has posted some great photos on the Oregon Men’s Basketball Twitter Account. Here are just a few:
For the 7-2 Navy Midshipmen Shawn Anderson and Will Kelly lead the team with Anderson averaging 14 points per game and Kelley putting down over 62 percent of his shots this season. The team is on a seven game winning streak entering the contest with the Oregon Ducks.
