The Oregon Ducks lost their Offensive Coordinator last month when Scott Frost left for the Head Coaching position at the University of Central Florida. On New Year’s Day, the team announced that Matt Lubick would be tabbed to lead the Offense into the future by naming him Offensive Coordinator. It was a well deserved announcement for a Coach that has done a ton of work for the program over the last few seasons, including turning Byron Marshall into a two way player on Offense. He finds ways to get things done on the field and has helped the Oregon Ducks to have the most successful Quarterbacks in the country the last two seasons with Marcus Mariota and Vernon Adams.
It marks the second time in several seasons that Mark Helfrich has gone to the well and not hired from outside to replace an assistant coach, which again speaks to the strength of the program that the Oregon Ducks have built. According to the Oregonian, Lubick was one of the first to play damage control with incoming recruit Dakota Prukop once Frost announced he was leaving and he remained committed to the Ducks.
