Oregon Basketball Falls At California, Dillon Brooks Finishes With 17 Points

Oregon Basketball fell hard on Friday by 20 points on the road at Haas Pavillion losing to California.

The road is place that is not kind at times. Something had to give on Thursday night when the California Golden Bears put their home winning streak on the line. The streak goes back to last season and was similar to the home streak that Arizona had at the McKale Center. However, Cal would defend their home floor by breaking out and leading by as many as 25 points in the game and dumping the Oregon Ducks by 20 points ending the Ducks six game winning streak.

Cal started the game with the first 5 points and Oregon never led in the game. Tyrone Wallace played after being questionable and not practicing because of a hand injury and finished with 10 points in his return. The Ducks could not stop Jabari Byrd who put in 24 points, 16 in the first half. Cal controlled the pace of the game and never let up. Oregon did have some scoring runs, including an 8-0 run with just under 5 minutes left in the game, but the lead was too great to overcome. Dillon Brooks had 17 points for the Ducks

The Golden Bears landed 5 three point shots to start the game pulling ahead 21-9 just six minutes into the game. Oregon went cold in the first half missing eight straight shots. This season when Oregon has started cold, it has led to a loss and Thursday saw their fifth loss on the season. The Pac-12 Standings still have Oregon Basketball on top by a game and with Cal being a solid team in the Conference it is likely that their leading RPI and Strength of Schedule placement won’t take too much of a hit. A split in the Bay Area is what should be expected for this team. They need to bounce back.
