Former Oregon Ducks Look to Shine at NFL Combine
By Steve Olson
Vernon Adams Jr. Quarterback: 5’11, 197
168-259, 2,643 yards, 26 touchdowns and six interceptions
Many wondered how the Ducks season would have turned out if Adams had stayed healthy all season. Coming back from his injury, he led the Ducks on a six game winning streak that included a nail biter over Stanford. He looked to be leading the Ducks to a Alamo Bowl win before being injured. With his transfer to Oregon he proved he can play at the top level in college football. Many have questions about where Adams fits in with NFL teams.
At the combine Adams hopes to put those doubts to rest. That he’s to short for the position, he can’t make big game reads and that he’s a average quarterback.
At quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. remains an intriguing prospect as he had a great showing in the Shrine game, 6 of 9 passes, 191 yards and three touchdowns. He maybe a little undersized at the quarterback position but many said the same thing about Russell Wilson. With Chip Kelly now at the San Francisco 49ers it will be interesting to see if they give him a look.
Right there now there are to many questions surrounding Adams. He looks to be a quarterback with plenty of upside to the right team. Look for him to be projected to go in the 3rd or 4th round.
