The Oregon Ducks Women’s Basketball team is coming off their first win of the season without Jillian Alleyne in the lineup. In their opening round WNIT game against Long Beach State.

Despite not having Alleyne, Oregon played as a team and hit 14 three point shots in the win over the Lobos. It was their first win since the final week of the regular season. The Pac-12 Tournament saw Oregon lose to Arizona. The Ducks also lost their last two road games of the year without their Star player in the lineup.

On Friday night it was Lexi Peterson who stepped up with 22 points. She was 6 of 10 from beyond the arc. Every Starter was in double figures for the Ducks in their most complete game in the last few weeks.

Oregon will play host again on Monday night for the Second Round of the WNIT welcoming Fresno State to Matthew Knight Arena. The Bulldogs are 22-11 on the season. On Friday they defeated Santa Clara and forced 25 turnovers turning them into 25 points winning the game 59-53.

It is the second straight appearance for Fresno State in the WNIT. Last year they lost to St. Mary’s in the second round, this year they beat Santa Clara.

Bego Faz Devalos is the Player to Watch on Monday night. She is the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year. Devalos is averaging close to 13 points and 7 rebounds per game this season. For the Bulldogs it has been Defense this season. The Bulldogs have won by holding teams below 60 points in 19 of 22 games this season along with 10 wins holding teams to under 55 points. Fresno State has also had an impressive 8 comeback wins when the team was down at halftime.

Oregon will have to limit the turnovers and someone will have to have a hot hand. Lexi Peterson has shown in the post season she can hit her shots and that could be an advantage for the Oregon Ducks on Monday night.
