While the 2015 Season did now quite go as planned for the Oregon Ducks Baseball team, one player who deserved some attention was Center Field Austin Grebeck. The Junior played in all 55 games during the season and kept pitchers off balance as a threat to steal all season long. On the Defensive side of the ball he had a near flawless .933 fielding percentage and threw out five batters throughout the season.

Austin Grebeck also set a new mark for runs in a season and he finished third on the all-time Walk list according to GoDucks.com.    He was the lone Pac-12 Representative on the list from the 2016 ACBA/Rawlings Gold Glove Team.

I ran into Austin Grebeck on campus at the Jaqua Center the Saturday of the MLB Draft as I was preparing for NCAA Championships coverage that day. I told him Good Luck in the Draft. Little did I know then that a few days later he would leave Oregon and go Professional. His season was one to remember, and as I usually say, once you have accomplished enough, it is time to move on, and a team saw that.

Grebeck was selected by the Seattle Mariners. He signed his first professional contract and will play for the Everett Aquasox in the Summer League. For those in Eugene, look for Grebeck to return to PK Park to play the Eugene Emeralds Saturday August 20th-24th.
