Eaton Takes Decathalon Title, Gardner Heads To Rio in 100 Meters

Day Three of the Olympic Trials could see a flock of Ducks Headed to Rio in the 100 Meters and Ashton Eaton do the same in the Decathalon.

The 2016 U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials begin on Friday and run through July 10th. Athletes from around the country from both the professional level and the college level are in Eugene, Oregon and Hayward Field for a chance to represent the US in Rio.

Day 3 Preview

The third day of the Olympic Trials starts with the Decathalon and the final five events. Ashton Eaton following his first place finish in the 400 Meters on Saturday gives him a 28 point edge entering the first event of the day, the 110 Meter Hurdles. We will also have our eye on current Oregon Athlete Mitch Modin. The storyline for Sunday, aside from Eaton may be the 100 Meters.

Yesterday, five Oregon athletes, current and former Ducks including Jenna Prandini, Jasmine Todd, Arianna Washington, Deajah Stephens, and English Gardner all making the SemiFinal(4:02pm PT). The final for the Women’s 100 Meter is less than two hours later at 5:44pm Pacific Time.

The final deciding event of the Men’s Decathalon, the 1500 Meters is set for 5:33pm. The top three will represent the US Team in Rio De Janeiro next month.
