2016 Olympic Trials Day 7: Men’s 5000 Semi Has Nine With Oregon Ties

The 2016 Olympic Trials return in full force today after a return day with the Hammer Throw on Wednesday. Nine current and former Oregon Ducks are in the competition on Day 7.</h

The day begins under partly cloudy and cooler conditions than we have had the first week of the Olympic Trials, a good thing for the competitors in the Women's Shotput, including Oregon's Brittany Mann. The afternoon session is loaded with current and former Oregon Ducks including Matthew Centrowitz and Andrew Wheating who announced yesterday that he will compete in the 1500 Meters.

The opening round is set for this Thursday evening at 7:21pm Pacific Time. The afternoon session begins at 3:30 with the Women's Javelin(3:30pm PT). Jordan Hasay, who ran in the 10,000 will return for the 5000 Meters and look to advance. She is in the second heat(4:20pm PT). Oregon will have two participants in the 100 Meter Hurdles with Alaysha Johnson and Sasha Wallace(5:02pm PT).

The day concludes with Bridget Franek in the Women's 3000 Meter Steeplechase Final for a chance go to Rio for a Top 3 finish.
