2016 Olympic Trials Day 8: Prandini Leads Three To Semis In 200 Meters

Day 8 Recap

The 2016 Olympic Trials enter Day 8 and Devon Allen will begin his journey of making the Olympic Team in the 110 Meter Hurdles.

The opening weekend of the Olympic Trials saw Decathalete Ashton Eaton as the one to watch. Entering the final weekend, Devon Allen will look to have a comeback of sorts and attempt to make his first Olympic Team. He will be on the track for the 110 Meter Hurdles Qualifier just after 3pm Pacific Time. To get the day started, Becky Holliday and Melissa Gergel will be a part of the Pole Vault Qualifying round.

The Women’s 200 meter Qualifier will have some familiar faces as well. Jenna Prandini who failed to qualify in the 100 meters will look for some redemption She will be joined by current Oregon Ducks Arianna Washington and Deajah Stephens. Oregon will also see two participants in the 100 Meter Hurdles Semis with Alaysha Johnson and Sasha Wallace. Thursday was quite the afternoon for the Men’s 1500 Meters. Nine of the twenty four participants in the Semi Final this afternoon have Oregon ties.

The biggest name on the list, Andrew Wheating, who earlier this week wasn’t even sure he would make the Trials and have a chance at making the team. His smile when he crossed the finish line on Thursday was felt and shared throughout Hayward Field. Wheating will be joined by Matthew Centrowitz, Jordan MaNamara, Johnny Gregorek, Daniel Winn, Sam Prakel and Matthew Moton.

The Women’s 100 Meter Hurdles Final is set for 5:54pm if Wallace and/or Johnson advance.
