Sports Illustrated put the Oregon Ducks Men’s Basketball Team in the Top Five Power Rankings entering the 2016 season and the Ducks are as close to a Powerhouse team as they can get

The 2016 College Basketball season is still a few months off, but that isn’t stopping prognosticators from picking who they think is at the top entering the season. Recently, Sports Illustrated took their best shot and put the Oregon Ducks inside the Top 5 at number four, which honestly is not a bad place to be for a team that has a close to 30 game home winning streak at Matthew Knight Arena spanning the last two seasons.

Word came last week that Dylan Ennis will be granted a sixth season of eligibility adding some big time strength to the Oregon Ducks Bench, if nothing else. Casey Benson ran the show the last few seasons, but if Ennis is healthy I would expect him to see the court. Of course, Head Coach Dana Altman already has a solid bench that can put up the points when they need to.

Sports Illustrated has an obvious Powerhouse at number one with Duke, Kansas comes in at number two and Villanova at number three. Not only is Oregon the only Pac-12 team listed in the Top 5, they are just one of two teams in the Top 10, with Arizona at nine, and UCLA coming in outside the Top 20 at 22.

Oregon ranks ahead of Kentucky on the list, which believe it or not says a lot about the level of returning talent on this team.
