Day Nine of the Olympic Trials will see six with Oregon ties look to advance or punch their ticket onto the US Team and Rio De Janeiro.

The 2016 Olympic Trials for Track and Field continue at Hayward Field. Day Nine begins with the Heptathalon. There are no participants for Oregon in this years event for the ladies. The big stories from Friday were the Semi Finals of the Women’s 200 Meters and the Men’s 110 Meter Hurdles. Three with ties to Oregon made the Semifinal in the 200 and Devon Allen made the Semi Final in the 110 Meter Hurdles.

Along with the 1500 Meter Final on Sunday which will have six former Oregon Ducks participating for the chance to go to Rio and the Olympics. There are plenty Oregon still alive to join those already heading to Rio De Janiero with English Gardner(100 Meters) and Galen Rupp(10,000 Meters) to name a few.

In the 110 Meter Hurdles on Friday at the Olympic Trials, Allen was off to a fast start, finished at 13.44 and was the third fastest of the day in the Opening Round. He will look to get to the final in Heat 3 starting at 4:25pm Pacific Time.

The Women’s events have been stellar for Oregon so far with an unforgettable six Ducks in the 100 Meter race Semis. The trend continues with three making the Semi’s of the 200 with Jenna Prandini, Arianna Washington and Deajah Stevens. Heat one is the one to watch with the old and new guards reflected. Prandini in Hip 6 and Washington next to her in Hip 5. (5:03pm PT)

For Oregon fans the day ends with the 5000 Meter Final with Erik Jenkins, Galen Rupp and Bernard Legat. Legat pulled out of the 10,000 but he said after he won his heat in the 5000 Meter Qualifier he was glad he did the 10k. It was more of a warmup for the shorter race. I’m sure the heat that day had an impact as well.

Weather for today is much cooler, and cloudy to start with a chance of showers throughout the afternoon.
