Oregon Ducks Volleyball Sweeps Washington, Tie For Pac-12 Lead
The Oregon Ducks Women’s Volleyball swept the Washington Huskies on the road Friday night to take the lead in the Pac-12.
Lindsey Vander Weide took control early and powered the Oregon Ducks to a three-game sweep in a rough road environment building confidence along the way. Washington entered the game as the number eight team in the nation. Oregon came in at number twenty but played like a Top ten team.
The first set saw a battle that was tied at 21 before the momentum was in the Ducks court the rest of the match. Head Coach Jim Moore watched his team take the first set 25-21 and breakout in the second set winning 25-8. Oregon saw a 14-0 run that put the Huskies crowd out of the match and held Washington to a negative -.190 hitting percentage.
The third set did not go well for the Huskies allowing the Ducks to take the three game sweep. Oregon was relentless from the start. Before last week the Ducks were ranked 13th in the RPI, a key factor in NCAA Tournament determination. After beating a Top Ten team, the Ducks are on the map to host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, but they have to keep win
