In Turning Down the Oregon Football Head Coaching Position, Scott Frost Brings Up A Major Recruiting Issue

The Oregon Ducks quest to find their next Head Coach may have just begun and names of potential candidates are hitting the internet fast and furious, but one candidate is not interested in his former employer.

Frost spoke on Thursday saying he was not a candidate for the Oregon Football Head Coach position. He stated clearly that he was just getting started at building a program at the University of Central Florida.

Recruiting was a key topic in his conversation. He told the Orlando Sentinel, “I’ve been recruiting all week. On Tuesday, I drove to a [nearby] town in Florida, recruited and was back in Orlando that night. Yesterday, I drove to another town in Florida and was back at home last night. That’s a lot different than flying all over the country and sleeping in a different state every night.”

Take his words to heart Oregon fans, recruiting in the Pacific Northwest is not an easy task one you’ve seen how the rest of the Country, and State of Florida can do it. This is a major roadblock in getting a new Head Coach.

Add to the conversation that other teams in the Pac-12 are regaining dominance and now have cool toys off the field like Oregon and the Ducks may have been better off giving Helfrich another season.

OK, maybe not. Rob Mullens should be given a chance to get it right. He did well with both the Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs respectively. For fans, regardless of who is hired, patience will need to Win the Day likely for the foreseeable future.
